Entre os dias, 4 e 8 de Março de 2025, decorreu o Simpósio Internacional da Family Search sobre Registo cívil, na cidade de Lago de Sal, nos Estados Unidos da América. O Doutor Renato Augusto Pereira, Director Nacional Adjunto para Área de Arquivos e Investigação participou do evento em representação do AHM. Para além de Moçambique outros participantes eram provenientes da África do Sul, Zimbabwé, República Democrática de Congo, Congo Brazivile, Quénia, Costa de Marfim, Canada, Austrália, Reino Unido, Brasil, México, Camboja, Coreia do Sul e Sri Lanca.
O programa do evento contemplava abertura, painéis de discussões, excursões, apresentação de comunicações, visita a exposições e encerramento. O representante do AHM, participou nos seguintes painéis de discussões, Privacidade em Arquivos: Boas práticas para Proteger os dados Pessoais. Os documentos estão em Risco e o Investimento da Family Search. Ao encontro das Necessidades dos Guardiões de Documentos. Em termos de visitas, foi ao Arquivo do Estado de Utah, a Biblioteca da Igreja de Jesus Cristo Santo do último dia, a Biblioteca da Family search, Centro de Conferência da Igreja de Jesus Cristo Santo do Último dia, o centro e o Armazém humanitário a Brigham Young University. Visitou igualmente exposições da RootsTech sobre a digitalização, test de DNA e Construção de árvores geneológicas.
O evento iniciou com o discurso de abertura proferidos pelos CEO e Presidente da Family Search Internacional, os senhores Steve Rockwood e Elder Kevin Hamilton, respetivamente. Os dois debruçaram-se sobre as ofertas da Family Search aos Guardiões de Registos. Segundo os oradores, a Family Search presta vários serviços como, preservação definitiva de registos por meio de cópias de segurança eficazes, faz a digitalização dos registos entregando gratuitamente cópias digitais de alta qualidade, faz a migração de base de dados para novos formatos de mídias ao longo do tempo para manter a acessibilidade, prove software de visualização para consulta de imagens digitais entregues e faz a indexação automatizada.
Com os serviços prestados pela Family Search desde 1894 ajuda as pessoas a descobrir a sua geneologia e história da família através da sua página web, aplicativos móveis e Centros de Pesquisa do Family Search. A Family Search já trabalhou com mais de 10.000 Arquivos e Igrejas e outras instituições em mais de 150 países.
Logo após o discurso de abertura, seguiu-se a visita ao Centro de Conferência e a Biblioteca da Igreja de Jesus Cristo Santo do Último dia. Em relação ao Centro de Conferência da Igreja Jesus Cristo santo do Último dia o visitante ficou informado sobre a estrututura física do edifício, os serviços prestados e sobre o pessoal afecto aos serviços que são cerca de 100 trabalhadores.
Um dos primeiros painéis propostos para o dia 5 versava sobre a “Privacidade em Arquivos: boas práticas para proteger os dados Pessoais. Neste, os painelistas apresentaram as experiências dos seus países. Por exemplo, em Canada, os dados pessoais são considerados públicos depois de 20 anos da morte do indivíduo. No Zimbabwé, decorridos 20 a 30 anos os documentos são recolhidos ao Arquivo Nacional. No Brasil, os dados pessoais não devem ser limitados se existir uma vítima, ou seja, se prejudicam outrém. De princípio, os dados pessoais devem ser disponibilizados para processos judiciais. Em Portugal, os dados pessoais ficam disponíveis ao público passados 100 anos. Em suma, deve haver alguma legislação nacional que determine o acesso público aos dados pessoais. Em Moçambique, ainda não foi aprovada tal legislação.
No dia 6, visitaram o Centro e o Armazém humanitário da Igreja de Jesus Cristo Santo do último dia. Nos dias posteriores 7 e 8 participaram na sessão geral sobre a experiência de descendentes americanos na reconstituição da árvore geneológica e visitaram as sessões da Roots Tech sobre digitalização, teste de DNA, serviços de produção da árvore geneológica da Family Search e os serviços de consultaria da Ascentors.
Lições apreendidas no evento:
- Senão existir uma legislação específica os dados pessoais não podem ser disponibilizados ao público. Nos Estados Unidos da América já apareceram pessoas a pedir para retirarem os seus dados na Internet. Também podem incorrer riscos de serem levados ao tribunal.
- A digitalização dos acervos apenas serve para divulgar os documentos ao público online e off line e preservar os documentos físicos, ou seja, originais. Mas, as unidades documentais continuam a vender os seus serviços de cópias digitais. As bases de dados off line são uma alternativa para prover esse serviço pelas unidades documentais fisicamente.
- Durante a digitalização de documentos deve-se observar a qualidade da imagem que possua no mínimo 300 pixels per inch/dpi, formato jpg. Para imagem e texto é recomendado o formato PNG ou SVG;
- Contactar a Direcção do Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia de Informação e Comunicação para informar-se do estágio actual do draft da legislação sobre a Proteção de dados pessoais em Moçambique.
